Understanding Autism

Understanding Autism is a course that introduces the learner to key concepts, data, and research about the epidemic, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Students will become familiar with definitions, prevalence, core features of the disorder, diagnostic procedures, theories of causation, related disorders, as well as history and types of appropriate interventions for autism. Understanding Autism ends with an introduction to applied behavioral analysis (ABA), the only autism intervention that is supported by research. This course is appropriate for any individual who wants to learn more about autism and how to treat it. Parents, caregivers, teachers, teaching assistants, and those who want to pursue a career in autism will be better prepared to work with individuals diagnosed with autism and/or related disorders. During your enrollment in this Odyssia Learning, Inc. course, you can log in at any time and work towards completion of this course. From the day you sign up for Understanding Autism, you have 16 weeks to complete the course. Once you have met all course requirements, you will be issued a certificate of completion.
